Enchanting China - time to go…is now…..
Enchanting Hong Kong
China might just be the most rewarding destination on Earth. Never fails to conjure up a myriad of feelings, images & a sense of mystery. Whether it’s your first visit or your 20th , China is so big, so diverse & so fast-changing, it’s always an adventure. More than ever, intrepid travellers are making their way to the People’s Republic of China and there’s little wonder why.
Hong Kong welcomes with an iconic skyline, a legendary kitchen, and a surprise of lush, protected nature where rare birds and colourful traditions thrive. A vibrant city that never sleeps - with unique smells, hustle & bustle and an eclectic mixture of east meets west. Come……experience China with us………
The world’s oldest continuous civilisation is bound to pull an artefact or two out of its hat. There isn't history at every turn but travel selectively in China and rich seams of antiquity await exploration.
Eagerly assuming its place among the world’s top travel destinations, even more so since Beijing took centre stage at the 2008 Olympics, China is an epic adventure. From the wide open & empty panoramas of Tibet to the push & shove of Shanghai, from the volcanic dishes of Sichuan to beer by the bag in seaside Qingdao, a journey through this colossus of a country is a mesmerising encounter with the most populous, perhaps most culturally idiosyncratic nation on earth.
The 3rd largest country in the world, China is bounded to the north by the deserts of Mongolia, to the west by the Tibetan plateau and the Himalayas, and to the east by the East and South China Seas. China's 22 provinces and 5 autonomous regions are governed from Beijing, along with some 5000 islands. China isn't just a country - it is a different world.
China boasts one of the world’s oldest civilizations, a past that has been chronicled for more than 5,000 years. It is also a land of towering mountains and epic landscapes - background scenery to the fall of dynasties, the rise of emperors and the turning of the revolutionary wheel. The sheer sweep of geography, history, cultures, cuisine, is enough to tempt even the most accomplished traveler to return.
Curator of the world’s oldest continuous civilisation, China will have you bumping into history at every turn. But it’s not just a museum of imperial relics: the frisson of development that has left China’s coastline glittering with some of the world’s most up-to-the-minute cities propels the land on with a forward-thinking dynamism.
Now, imagine a delicate balance between Chinese roots and 99 years of western influence as a British colony. Imagine one of the world’s leading financial centers with a breathtaking tower-studded skyline, gorgeous architecture & rich and electrifying culture. Imagine being nudged out of your comfort zone into a fabulous adventure that will reward all of your five senses. Imagine one of the most fascinating places on earth.
And now, on to Hong Kong ……….
Neighbourhoods & Islands | Cuisine | Shopping | Culture
Underneath the glass & steel of Hong Kong’s commercial persona is a dynamic cultural landscape where its Chinese roots, colonial connections & the contributions of its home-grown talent become intertwined. Here, you are just as likely to find yourself applauding at Asia’s top film festival as joining in dawn taichi or reading the couplets of a local poet to the drumbeat of a dragon boat. Culture could also mean indie music by the harbour, Chinese opera in a bamboo theatre, not to mention the thousands of shows staged year-round at the city's many museums & concert halls.
The shopping centers are sublime, from off-the-rack Chinese gowns to bespoke specialty knives & vice versa, the sheer variety of products in Hong Kong’s shops is dizzying. Every budget, need & whim is catered for in 'can do' spirit by a similarly impressive assortment of venues - glitzy malls where the moneyed shop, chic side-street boutiques & vintage dens where fashionistas find their gems, nerdy gadget bazaars & a mix of markets where you can haggle to your heart’s content. The city has no sales tax so prices are generally attractive to visitors.
One of the world's top culinary capitals, the city that worships the God of Cookery has many a demon in the kitchen, whether the deliciousness in the pot is Cantonese, Sichuanese, Japanese or French. So deep is the city's love of food & so broad its culinary repertoire, that whatever your gastronomic desires, Hong Kong will find a way to satiate them. The answer could be a bowl of wonton noodles, freshly steamed dim sum, a warm pineapple bun wedged with butter, a pair of the sweetest prawns, your first-ever stinky tofu, or the creations of the latest celebrity chef.
Hong Kong's enchanting neighborhoods & islands offer a sensory feast. You may find yourself swaying along on a historic double-decker tram, cheering with the hordes at the city-centre horse races, or simply gazing out at the glorious harbour. Over 70% of Hong Kong is mountains & sprawling country parks, some also home to geological & historical gems. Escape the city limits on one of the world’s smoothest transport systems & spend your day wandering in a Song-dynasty village, hiking on a deserted island or kayaking among volcanic sea arches.
Hong Kong is a vibrant city that never sleeps - with unique smells, hustle & bustle and an eclectic mixture of east meets west. But it is also efficient, hushed & peaceful and the temples & quiet corners of parks are contemplative oasis. Hong Kong is all about savoring new tastes, weaving through a human gridlock & experiencing one of Asia's favourite cities.
Enjoy fantastic shopping & sightseeing, cruise the Hong Kong harbor & experience the Symphony of Lights a spectacular evening light show. Whether you are a vacationer or cultural explorer, Hong Kong can cater for your every desire. Discover the myriad things to see & do in one of the most diverse & exciting destinations in the world. It has been a long time since its handover from Britain to China & this entrepreneurial, eclectic & most of all, world class city, is still booming!
Hong Kong has a complexity that defies definition. It's the only place where you can be searching for colonial military relics near the Chinese border, lunching with a Buddhist at a Sikh temple, trying to decipher the aesthetics of Chinese Revival architecture, or splurging on a set of knives - all within 5 hour - followed by a night of Cantonese opera, karaoke or poetry, anywhere you choose.
Exciting Hong Kong offers something for everyone as a destination in itself or as a great stopover city enroute to / from another Asian country.
Hong Kong is a vibrant city that never sleeps - with unique smells, hustle & bustle and an eclectic mixture of east meets west. Plus great food & idyllic scenery are just the beginning……. Take the plunge now and yep…. People’s Republic of China & Hong Kong are waiting. A warm welcome, historical secrets & an artistic paradise awaits you and The Journeys is ready to take you on well, a journey (or journeys) of discovery.
Come……be inspired & discover the World with us

Neighbourhoods & Islands | Cuisine | Shopping | Culture
“A dream of Manhattan, arising from the South China Sea” From opium port to Cold War enclave to frenetic financial capital, Hong Kong has never been boring. This is the hedonistic engine room of cultural fusion: East meets West in high style, and the results astonish and delight. Hong Kong is a vibrant city that never sleeps - with unique smells, hustle & bustle and an eclectic mixture of east meets west. But it is also efficient, hushed & peaceful: the transport network is excellent, the shopping centres are sublime, and the temples & quiet corners of parks are contemplative oases. Hong Kong is all about savouring new tastes, weaving through a human gridlock & experiencing one of Asia's favourite cities.
An administrative region of southeast China on the coast southeast of Guangzhou, Hong Kong Island was occupied by the British during the Opium War (1839-1842) and ceded to them by the Treaty of Nanking (1842). Other portions of the colony were acquired in 1860 and in 1898 by a 99-year lease. A free port and important center of international commerce and banking for most of the 20th century, Hong Kong reverted to Chinese sovereignty in 1997.
Underneath the glass & steel of Hong Kong’s commercial persona is a dynamic cultural landscape where its Chinese roots, colonial connections & the contributions of its home-grown talent become intertwined. Here you are just as likely to find yourself dissecting art in the dizzying number of contemporary galleries as joining in dawn taichi or reading the couplets of a local poet to the drumbeat of a dragon boat. Culture could also mean indie music by the harbour or Chinese opera in a bamboo theatre, not to mention the thousands of shows staged year-round at the city's many museums & concert halls.
You may find yourself swaying along on a historic double-decker tram, cheering with the hordes at the city-centre horse races, or simply gazing out at the glorious harbour. What most visitors don't immediately realise is that over 70% of Hong Kong is mountains & sprawling country parks, some also home to geological & historical gems. Escape the city limits on one of the world’s smoothest transport systems & spend your day wandering in a Song-dynasty village, hiking on a deserted island or kayaking among volcanic sea arches.

Day 2 - | Hong Kong
Morning, you will be picked up at 09:00 am & embark on a full day 8 hour sightseeing of the city. Put on your walking shoes as you will be visiting some of Hong Kong’s most iconic sites.
The tour includes a visit to Stanley Market where you can stroll through this seaside village bazaar and bargain for silk garments, sportswear, art, Chinese costume jewel, souvenirs and other bargains. (but Stanley offers much. You can come back to a relaxing beach, quiet waterfront restaurants, a Tin Hau Temple, the Old Stanley Fort (accessible only with a permit) & some historic military sites.
Continue on to the famous fishing village of Aberdeen.
Famous for its colorful floating seafood restaurant and boat people who live on junks in Aberdeen Harbour, the town has undergone massive changes in recent years. Originally a typhoon shelter and land base for seafarers, it used to be a charming fishing village and boat-building port, supported primarily by several thousand junks & boat people. An optional 20 minutes ride in a ‘sampan’ gives you the chance to explore and take a close up look at the interesting environment.
Enroute you will be stopping briefly at the popular beach of Repulse Bay. Primarily a well-to-do residential area, Repulse Bay has a relaxed, almost resort-like atmosphere. The wide beach is popular with residents & great for sandy strolls. The Life Guard Club, built in traditional Chinese style, features statues of Kuan Yum and Tin Hau, both protectors of fishermen, Repulse Bay arcade, resembling the original luxury hotel that occupied the site, houses shops & restaurants.
The sightseeing tour will conclude with a panoramic ride up to the Victoria Peak. Locally, it is denoted as ‘The Peak’. The mountain is located in the western half of the Hong Kong Island. With an altitude of 552 m (1,810 ft), it is the highest mountain on the island, although far from the highest Tai Mo Shan in the territory.
Return to the hotel.
Balance of the day is at leisure or if there is time, perhaps opt for one of the options available (we will be happy to offer suggestions & make arrangements).

Day 3 - | Hong Kong
Morning, you will be picked up at 09:00 am & embark on another full day 8 hour sightseeing of the city.
Tour commences with a ferry ride through Victoria Harbour to Silvermine Bay, Lantau.
On arrival, board a coach to the beautiful Cheung Sha beach & on to the unique Tai O fishing village where you would see the famous stilt houses.
Arrive at Po Lin Monastery where the world's largest seated outdoor bronze Buddha sits serenely atop 520-metre high Ngong Ping plateau amid the spectacular mountain scenery of Lantau Island. The eyes, lips, incline of the head and even the right hand (raised to deliver a blessing to all), combine to lend great depth of character & dignity to this extraordinary statute.
The majestic figure of the seated Buddha is 34 metres high, was cast in China and took over 10 years to complete. Weighing 250 tonnes, it was unveiled in 1993 amid deeply religious ceremonies.
Visitors can climb the 268 steps to reach the platform where the Buddha is seated.
Besides attracting Buddhists from all over Asia, the magnificent figure with its compelling presence almost instantly transformed the remote Po Lin Monastery with its devout monks into a must-visit stop.
Enjoy a vegetarian lunch served by monks at Po Lin Monastery. The tour ends with a spectacular ride aboard the Skyrail* cable car (if the Skyrail service is suspended due to inclement weather or other safety reasons, alternative transportation will be arranged) offering stunning views going down from Lantau to Tung Chung near the airport.
Your Tour-guide will meet you at the Arrival Point & transfer you to the hotel.
Balance of the day is at leisure or if there is time, perhaps opt for one of the options available (we will be happy to offer suggestions & make arrangements).

- The cost has been calculated on the existing tariffs / conditions and in case of any currency fluctuations or amendment in local Government taxes, or any fuel hike, we reserve the right to revise the tour price accordingly.
- Our quotations are calculated on base category of accommodation at each property and are subject to modification, if the same hotel / category of room not available at the time of reservation.
