City Combo - Munich, Prague, Vienna
Where medieval meets modernity | forests of fairy tales | unexpected natural beauty
There simply is no way to tour Europe and not be awestruck by its scenic beauty, epic history & dazzling artistic and culinary diversity.
Germany has always marched to a different drummer - Lederhosen, Oktoberfest, polka dancing, Bavarian pretzels, sauerkraut & drinking beer like no others. It is Europe at its most exotic Prepare for a roller coaster of feasts, treats & temptations as you take in Germany's soul-stirring scenery, spirit-lifting culture, big-city beauties, romantic palaces & half-timbered towns. Come……experience Germany & beyond with us………
Europe’s almost unmanageable wealth of attractions is its biggest single draw: the birthplace of democracy in Athens, the Renaissance art of Florence, the graceful canals of Venice, the Napoleonic splendour of Paris, and the multilayered historical & cultural canvas of London. Less obvious but no less impressive attractions include Moorish palaces in Andalucía, the fascinating East-meets-West brew of İstanbul in Turkey, the majesty of meticulously restored imperial palaces in Russia's former capital St Petersburg and the ongoing project of Gaudí's La Sagrada Família in Barcelona
There is a huge diversity of natural scenery: rugged Scottish Highlands with glens & lochs; Norway's fabulous fjords, seemingly chipped to jagged perfection by giants; the vine-raked valleys of the Loire; and the steppe-like plains of central Spain. If you are looking for beaches, a circuit of the Mediterranean's northern coast reveals one gem after another. Or strike out to lesser known, yet beautiful coastal regions such as the Baltic and Black Seas. Mountain lovers should head to the Alps: they march across central Europe taking in France, Switzerland, Austria, northern Italy and tiny Liechtenstein
Europe has some of the best nightlife in the world. Globally famous DJs keep the party going in London, Berlin and Paris, all of which also offer top-class entertainment, especially theatre & live music. Other key locations for high-energy nightlife include Moscow, Belgrade, Budapest and Madrid, while those hankering for something cosier can add Dublin's pubs or Vienna's cafes to their itinerary. Continue to party on the continent's streets at a multiplicity of festivals and celebrations, from city parades attended by hundreds of thousands to intimate concerts in an ancient amphitheatre.

Once you've ticked off the great museums, panoramic vistas and energetic nightlife, what's left? A chance to indulge in a culinary adventure to beat all others, that's what! Who wouldn't want to snack on pizza in Naples, souvlaki in Santorini or even haggis in Scotland? But did you also know that Britain has some of the best Indian restaurants in the world; that Turkey's doner kebab is a key part of contemporary German food culture; and that in the Netherlands you can gorge on an Indonesian rijsttafel (rice table)? Once again Europe's diversity and global reach is its trump card.
Bewitching Scenery | Gastro Delights | High on History
Germany is a Western European country with a terrain of vast forests, rivers & mountain ranges, & 2 millennia of history. Berlin, its capital, is home to thriving art and nightlife scenes, iconic Brandenburg Gate and many sites relating to WWII. Munich is known for its Oktoberfest and cavernous beer halls, including 16th century Hofbrauhaus. Frankfurt, with its skyscrapers, houses the European Central Bank.
There is something undeniably artistic in the way Germany's scenery unfolds - the corrugated, dune-fringed coasts of the north; the moody forests, romantic river valleys & vast vineyards of the centre, and the off-the-charts splendour of the Alps, carved into rugged glory by glaciers & the elements. All are integral parts of a magical natural matrix that's bound to give your camera batteries a workout. Get off the highway & into the great outdoors to soak up the epic landscapes that makes each delicious, slow, winding mile so precious.
Few countries have had as much impact on the world as Germany, which has given us the Hanseatic League, the Reformation and yes, Hitler & the Holocaust, but also the printing press, the automobile, aspirin & MP3 technology. It is the birthplace of Martin Luther, Albert Einstein & Karl Marx. Goethe, Beethoven, the Brothers Grimm & other heavyweights who, each in their own way, have left their mark on human history. You can stand in a Roman amphitheatre, sleep in a medieval castle & walk along remnants of the Berlin Wall - in Germany the past is very much present wherever you go.
You will encounter history in towns where streets were laid out long before Columbus set sail, & in castles that loom above prim, half-timbered villages where flower boxes billow with crimson geraniums. The great cities - Berlin, Munich & Hamburg among them - come in more flavours than a jar of jelly beans but will all wow you with a cultural kaleidoscope that spans the arc from art museums and high-brow opera to naughty cabaret and underground clubs. And wherever you go, Romanesque, Gothic & baroque classics rub rafters with architectural creations from modern masters such as Daniel Libeskind, David Chipperfield & Frank Gehry.
Cradle of Czech Culture | Castles & Chateaux | Folklore & Tradition
Since the fall of communism in 1989, the Czech Republic & its capital in particular - has evolved into one of Europe’s most popular travel destinations.
Everyone who visits the Czech Republic starts with Prague, the cradle of Czech culture & one of Europe’s most fascinating cities. Prague offers a near-intact medieval core of Gothic architecture that can transport you back 500 years - the 14th century Charles Bridge, connecting two historic neighbourhoods across the Vltava River, with the castle ramparts & the spires of St Vitus Cathedral rising above, is one of the classic sights of world travel. But the city is not just about history; it is a vital urban centre with a rich array of cultural offerings & a newly emerging foodie scene.
High Culture | River Deep, Mountain High | Baroque &beyond
No country waltzes so effortlessly between the urban & the outdoors as Austria. One day you are cresting alpine summits, the next you are swanning around imperial Vienna.
Over centuries, the Habsburgs channelled immense wealth into the fine arts & music, collecting palaces & castles the way others do stamps. You will still feel their cultural reverberations in Austria today - be it watching Lipizzaner stallions prance at the Spanish Riding School, or crossing the Hofburg to eyeball Rubens masterpieces in the Kunsthistorisches Museum, or Klimt & Schiele at the Museums Quartier. The work of classical pop stars such as Mozart, Strauss, Mahler, Haydn & Schubert echo as loudly as ever at lavishly gilded concert halls and music festivals like Salzburg Festival & Bregenzer Festspiele are staged against uplifting lakeside or mountain backdrops.
A journey through the amazing kaleidoscope that is Europe will allow you to enjoy some of the most mythical & enchanting places! And this trip takes you to the imperial cities of Munich, Prague, Vienna.
Start in Munich & explore some of Germany’s most mythical & enchanting places! Munich is famous for its beautiful architecture, fine culture & the annual Oktoberfest beer celebration.
Travel along the Romantic Road along myth-laden Black Forest. Soak up the many sites & flavors of Germany as you visit quaint villages, colorful cities, UNESCO-listed wonders & legendary places.

One of the most popular of all the palaces & castles in Europe, the setting of Neuschwanstein could not be more idyllic.
Get on the train & cross the border to Czechia, spending 2 nights in Prague which will give you ample time to discover the enchanting city & vicinity.

City Combo - Munich, Prague, Vienna
Munich * Prague * Vienna
Day 1 - | Arrive ✈ Munich at ????
Willkommen in Deutschland. Arrive in Munich.
After you exit in the Arrival Hall at Terminal? - Munich International Airport, subsequent to Immigration & Customs, you will be welcomed by The Journeys representative who will ensure your comfort & transfer you to the hotel. He / she will provide assistance during Check-in & also discuss the program for the next few days.
The natural habitat of well-heeled power dressers & Lederhosen-clad thigh-slappers, Mediterranean-style street cafes and Mitteleuropa beer halls, highbrow art & high-tech industry, Germany’s unofficial southern capital, Munich is famous for its beautiful architecture, fine culture & the annual Oktoberfest beer celebration.
Tall tankards and high-tech cars, edgy art & Lederhosen - Munich is a city where traditional & modern sit side by side like few places on earth.
Munich’s various quirks, the things that make the city the place it is, might be what stick in the memory most. Whether it be the inebriated oompah band, that special knife for eating monster radishes, the Bavarians outrageous dialect, the mad hat traditions of the Oktoberfest or the surfers on the Eisbach wave - you are sure to discover some freakish aspect of Munich life every day. And then there is the local garb - nowhere else in central Europe do the locals don their traditional costume - the famous Lederhosen & Dirndl - as readily as the Munchners, so why not join them?
Munich has long been known as the ‘city of art & beer’, so before you head off to the pub, take some time to savour the local art scene. The Kunstareal, Munich’s art quarter, is the place to start, with four major venues displaying everything from Dutch masters to 1960s design.
The locals have a word for it - Gemutlichkeit - that untranslatable intermingling of cosiness, well-being & laid-back attitude. In Munich, you will sense it most under the fairy lights of a summer beer garden, people-watching in the English Garden & behind the wheel of a BMW heading south. It may be just the local character, but a large share of Gemutlichkeit must come from the fact that the Bavarian capital is one of the most affluent cities on the planet, it’s economy larger than most small countries, its infrastructure well-tended.
Check-in at the hotel.
Balance of the day at leisure or perhaps opt for one of the many options available (we will be happy to offer suggestions & make arrangements).

Day 2 - | Munich
Morning, proceed to the designated Pick-up Point for the regular Bus tour & explore Munich (on your own) on a full day tour with an audio commentary
Enjoy Munich in an open air double-decker buses. You may hop on & hop off at the stops of your choice (Buses depart from 10:00am to 5:00pm, every 30 minutes) & take your time getting around the city (we will be happy to offer suggestions).
You may hop on & hop off at the stops of your choice & take your time getting around the city (we will be happy to offer suggestions).
Munich is rich in history, continental & local, and the architecture, streets, churches, gardens & public spaces reflect the best of centuries of competing cultures.
Munich’s walkable centre retains a small-town air but holds some world-class sights, especially art galleries and museums. Throw in royal Bavarian heritage, an entire suburb of Olympic legacy and a kitbag of dark tourism and it's clear why southern Germany’s metropolis is such a favourite among those who seek out the past but like to hit the town once they’re done.
Munich's cultural scene is second to none in Germany, with the Museums even considered by some to outrank Berlin in quality & many travelers to Munich are absolutely stunned by the quality of the architecture. If you are looking for Alpine cliches, they are all here, but the Bavarian metropolis has many an unexpected card down its Dirndl.
You will discover sights such as the Pinakotheken art museum, the world famous Hofbrauhaus, the National Theater with the Royal Palace, Marienplatz & the Viktualien market with its colorful outdoor stalls. You will have a fantastic panoramic view from the top of the 290 meter high Olympic Tower.
Continue to the Palace of Nymphenburg, the former summer residence of the Bavarian elector princes & kings with its beautiful and spacious gardens. To get an impression of modern Munich, you will also visit the Olympic grounds where you will find other attractions like Sea Life, the BMW museum and the new BMW Car World.
Return to the hotel & relax.

Day 3 - | Munich
Morning, meet the Tour-guide at 08.00 am & start the 8 hour full day excursion today with a visit to Neuschwanstein Castle, built by Ludwig II, the notorious “Mad King“.
Schloss Neuschwanstein is a 19th century Romanesque revival palace on a rugged hill above the village of Hohenschwangau near Fussen (Entrance ticket not included, to be paid directly).
The setting of Neuschwanstein could not be more idyllic. Today, it is one of the most popular of all the palaces & castles in Europe.
Appearing through the mountaintops like a mirage, Schloss Neuschwanstein was the model for Disney’s Sleeping Beauty castle.
King Ludwig II planned this fairy-tale pile himself, with the help of a stage designer rather than an architect. He envisioned it as a giant stage on which to recreate the world of Germanic mythology, inspired by the operatic works of his friend Richard Wagner. The most impressive room is the Sangersaal (Minstrels’ Hall), whose frescos depict scenes from the opera Tannhauser.
Built as a romantic medieval castle, work started in 1869 & like so many of Ludwig’s grand schemes, was never finished. For all the coffer-depleting sums spent on it, the king spent just over 170 days in residence.
Completed sections include Ludwig’s Tristan & Isolde themed bedroom, dominated by a huge Gothic-style bed crowned with intricately carved cathedral-like spires; a gaudy artificial grotto (another allusion to Tannhauser); & the Byzantine-style Thronsaal (Throne Room) with an incredible mosaic floor containing over two million stones. The painting opposite the (throneless) throne platform depicts another castle dreamed up by Ludwig that was never built (he planned many more). Almost every window provides tour-halting views across the plain below.
Seven weeks after the death of King Ludwig II in 1886, Neuschwanstein was opened to the public. The shy king had built the castle in order to withdraw from public life - now vast numbers of people come to view his private refuge. Every year 1.4 million + people visit "the castle of the fairy-tale king". On a single summer day, around 6,000 visitors stream through rooms that were intended for a single inhabitant.
The Castle Tour ends with a 20 minute film on the castle & its creator. There is reasonably priced cafe & the inevitable gift shops.
For the postcard view of Neuschwanstein & the plains beyond, walk 10 minutes up to Marienbrucke (Mary’s Bridge), which spans the spectacular Pollat Gorge over a waterfall just above the castle. It is said Ludwig enjoyed coming up here after dark to watch the candlelight radiating from the Sangersaal.
Drive on to the nearby Linderhof Palace.
Linderhof Schloss is the smallest of the three palaces built by King Ludwig II of Bavaria & the only one which he lived to see completed.
Ludwig II, who was crowned king in 1864, began his building activities in 1867 / 68 by redesigning his rooms in the Munich Residenz & laying the foundation stone of Neuschwanstein Castle. In 1868 he was already making his first plans for Linderhof. However, neither the palace modelled on Versailles that was to be sited on the floor of the valley nor the large Byzantine palace envisaged by Ludwig II were ever built.
Instead, the new building developed around the forester's house (designated as the "Royal Lodge") belonging to his father Maximilian II, which was located in the open space in front of the present palace & was used by the king when crown prince on hunting expeditions with his father. Linderhof Palace, the eventual result of a long period of building & rebuilding, is the only large palace King Ludwig II lived to see completed.
There are plenty of walking trails & scenic spots perfect for lingering on the palace grounds. There are also a few food options near the parking lot where you can get pretzels, small flatbread pizzas, beer & pastries.
Drive back to the hotel in Munich.
Balance of the day at leisure or perhaps opt for one of the many options available (we will be happy to offer suggestions & make arrangements).

European Hotspot | Art All Around | Where Beer is God | Urban Explorations
Prague - capital city of the Czech Republic, is the equal of Paris in terms of beauty. Its history goes back a millennium. And, the beer? The best in Europe.
Bisected by the Vltava River it is nicknamed “the City of a Hundred Spires,” known for its Old Town Square, the heart of its historic core, with colorful baroque buildings, Gothic churches & the medieval Astronomical Clock, which gives an animated hourly show.
.
The 1989 Velvet Revolution that freed the Czechs from communism bequeathed to Europe a gem of a city to stand beside stalwarts such as Rome, Amsterdam & London. Not surprisingly, visitors from around the world have come in droves, & on a hot summer's day it can feel like you are sharing Charles Bridge with half of humanity. But even the crowds can’t take away from the spectacle of a 14th century pedestrian stone bridge lined with statues of Catholic saints, a hilltop castle and bisected by the lovely, lazy river - the Vltava - that inspired one of the most hauntingly beautiful pieces of 19th century classical music, Smetana’s Moldau symphony.
Prague's art galleries may not have the allure of the Louvre, but Bohemian art offers much to admire, from the glowing Gothic altarpieces in the Convent of St Agnes, to the luscious art nouveau of Alfons Mucha, & the magnificent collection of 20th century surrealists, cubists & constructivists in the Veletrzni Palac. The weird & witty sculpture of David Cerny punctuates Prague's public spaces & the city itself offers a smorgasbord of stunning architecture, from the soaring verticals of Gothic & the exuberance of baroque to the sensual elegance of art nouveau & the chiselled cheekbones of cubist facades.
Prague's maze of cobbled lanes & hidden courtyards is a paradise for the aimless wanderer, always beckoning you to explore a little further. Just a few blocks away from the Old Town Square, you can stumble across ancient chapels, unexpected gardens, cute cafes & old-fashioned bars with hardly a tourist in sight.
One of the great joys of the city is its potential for exploration - neighbourhoods such as Vinohrady & Bubenec and can reward the urban adventurer with countless memorable cameos, from the setting sun glinting off church domes, to the strains of Dvorak wafting from an open window.
And the best beer in the world just got better. Since the invention of Pilsner Urquell in 1842, the Czechs have been famous for producing some of the world's finest brews. But the internationally famous brand names - Urquell, Staropramen & Budvar - have been equalled, and even surpassed, by a bunch of regional Czech beers & microbreweries that are catering to a renewed interest in traditional brewing. Never before have Prague's pubs offered such a wide range of ales - names you will now have to get your head around include Kout na Šumave, Svijansky Rytir & Velkopopovicky Kozel.
Check-in at the hotel & relax.
Balance of the day free for independent explorations or Optional activities (we will be happy to offer suggestions & make any arrangements).

You will then walk to the Old Town Square in the city centre & the Jewish Quarter. Here, you can admire the Tyn Church, St. Nicholas Church & the legendary Astronomical Clock on the Old Town Hall where the tour terminates.

Some important notes
- Flights are subject to constant modifications / delays and cancellations. In such cases, we will do all possible to find the best available alternative / solution but will not accept any liability, whatsoever.
- Our rates only include those items which are specified in the Itinerary / Inclusions.
- The cost has been calculated on the existing tariffs / conditions and in case of any currency fluctuations or amendment in local Government taxes, or any fuel hike, we reserve the right to revise the tour price accordingly.
- Our quotations are calculated on base category of accommodation at each property and are subject to modification, if the same hotel / category of room not available at the time of reservation. In that case, we will confirm a superior category of room at a comparable or better hotel and supplement charges, if any, shall be advised accordingly. Final Itinerary will illustrate updated information and / or it would be furnished at the time of confirmation.
- All prices are per person, based on double occupancy, and subject to availability at the time of booking. The from price reflects the lowest available price at time of publication, which is valid for a specific start date or dates and also based on availability at the time of booking.
- Room availability is getting saturated due to heavy demands from the tourism industry, international Fairs and Congresses. Due to these constant sold- out situations the hotels are applying the cancellation rules more stringently. Once the reservation is guaranteed, the booking will be subject to full cancellation charges as per our Terms & Conditions (details will be advised at the time of deposit). We strongly recommend obtaining Insurance to protect yourself against any unforeseen scenarios.
- Additional services including Optionals, if any, can be paid directly by the clients to our local offices
The Journeys strongly recommends that all Guests purchase appropriate Travel Insurance (Trip Cancellation / Interruption & Medical) to cover any eventuality & / or Emergency. Between missed Connections, lost or delayed Luggage, or Medical Emergencies, you want some peace of mind that your travel investment is well protected. No matter who you buy from, please consider purchasing a Travel Protection Plan before you travel. Still unsure? Talk to us.
